I'm a proud mama
My son, Alexander, had his first exhibit at his school's art fair on Tuesday. He used crayons, markers, and watercolors to decorate clip art butterflies. We attached them to a branch painted with gold acrylic paint and supported by a mound of air-dry clay. Alexander had the most fun embellishing the clay with beads, sequins, and small paper clips. We gave the clay a few spritzes of homemade glimmer mist (Pearl-Ex + turquoise re-inker in water). Although the entries weren't judged, Alexander thought it was really cool to receive a certificate of participation. The butterflies will now be sent to the Holocaust Museum Houston for their Butterfly Project.

If I may add, X added "leaves" to the branch too, which I thought was a perfect addition. We have to get a picture of it on another background before disassembling....Im a proud papa/husband
Oh my gosh! Look how grown-up he is. Where did time go? Contratulations, Alexander, on your awesome butterfly exhibit! I know it is very beautiful in person...I wish I could see it. You did a great job!
What a cutie! You started him out right -- for a love of art. My kids enjoy it too -- my 15 year old boy is going through dominoes and alcohol ink too fast LOL.
I see that his butterflies are going to the Butterfly Project. One of the last pages I am working on is a yellow butterfly with the poem written at the concentration camp on it. I hope to finish it this weekend!
Alexander, you are growing up to be a fine artist like your mom!
